The Ganley lab has returned from its lab retreat! We went to the Waitakere ranges, specifically a place near Muriwai beach, for a couple of days of research talk and relaxation. Great venue, with views down the coast. Discussions of lab projects were very useful, and were aided by the incredible range of props (including samurai sword rDNA units and horse races)! A tramp in Goldies Bush Walkway proved suitably challenging and muddy for everyone, although some more than others, and this was livened considerably by the constellation of mushrooms on display. Talk of the retreat would not be complete without mention of the amazing food, including homemade pizza, curry, and something I only know as the “traditional Venezuelan corn breakfast things”. The insanity hot sauce was also challenging, once again, to some more than others. Finally, commiserations to those who were not lucky enough to be on my winning Cranium team!
